West Plains Garbage Rates Increase

From Staff And Wire Reports

Garbage collection rates will go up April 1 for 2,780 households and about 250 commercial Western Refuse customers in unincorporated portions of the West Plains.

Western customers at Fairchild Air Force Base and in the cities of Cheney, Airway Heights, Medical Lake, Davenport and Reardan are not affected.

Outside the cities, Western’s residential rates will go from $12.15 to $13.90 a month for one-can service and from $16.60 to $18.20 for two-can service. The monthly rate for a 2-cubic-yard commercial container will go from $83.78 to $96.

Most of the rate increase, approved Wednesday by the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, was attributed to a rate increase planned for the Spokane garbage incinerator.
