Legends Prove Tigers; Williams Nets Six Goals

Tiger Williams, a true legend, and Gordie Turlik, one of the names from Spokane’s golden years of senior hockey, stole the show as the touring Legends of Hockey beat the Spokane Oldtimers 14-6 before about 1,000 fans Monday night in the Coliseum.

Williams, whose NHL career included stints in Toronto and Vancouver, scored six goals for the Legends. Turlik had five for Spokane, including its last four.

Frank Mahovlich and Gilles Marotte each had one goal; Guy Lafleur had two; and Mahovlich’s son, Ted, three for the Legends. Nels Venerus scored Spokane’s other goal.
