Associated Press

Here is a look at action Tuesday in the Washington Legislature:

Governor:

Announced the resignation of Roger Bruett as chief of the State Patrol and named Troopers’ Association attorney Annette Sandberg as his replacement. Sandberg, 33, is the first woman to head the patrol.

Senate:

Confirmed the reappointment of Tim Douglas to the Puget Sound Water Quality Authority.

Confirmed the reappointment of Charles Alexander to the Personnel Appeals Board.

House:

Approved and sent to the governor SB5156, to bar the state Utilities and Transportation Commission from allowing major long distance companies from using “1-plus-area code” access numbers to complete calls within the 206, 360 and 509 area codes. The national carriers could continue to offer longer, more complicated access codes for those calls.
