Series Of Workshops Planned At North Side Library Branches

The Spokane Public Library plans a series of lectures and workshops at its North Side branches in April.

The Hillyard Branch will host a lecture about that branch’s stainedglass window. Artists Steve Adams of Spokane and Patricia Barkley of Sandpoint, who made the window, will discuss their work at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 11.

The library’s youth services coordinator, Nancy Ledeboer, will perform puppet shows for children. One show is scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, April 10, at the Hillyard Branch. Another takes place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the Shadle Branch.

The Hillyard Branch continues its Lifeskills for the ‘90s series with an eight-part hunter education workshop that begins April 24. For registration or information, call 626-5380.

Discovery Shop open house

The American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop, 805 W. Garland, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an open house April 7 at the store.

Hours of the open house are 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sales at the thrift shop, which is staffed by volunteers, raise money for cancer research, education programs and to assist cancer patients and their families.

Find out April 15 at Hillyard’s Masonic Temple, 3023 E. Diamond.

The Greater Hillyard Business Association is sponsoring “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny” from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. that day.

The event is a fund-raiser for the association’s mural committee. Proceeds will be used to hire artists to paint murals in the Hillyard area.

The menu includes pancakes, ham, juice and coffee. The cost is $1.50 for kids and $2.50 for adults. Kids can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny for $8, which includes breakfast.

The Rogers High School jazz ensemble will perform.
