Mike Dacquisto’s three hits and two RBIs led Gonzaga Prep past host University 8-3 on Thursday in Greater Spokane League baseball.
G-Prep’s Matt Comfort contributed with two hits and two RBIs as G-Prep (4-0) outhit the Titans (3-2) 13-3.
In other GSL games, North Central held on to beat Central Valley 4-2, Shadle Park shut out Lewis and Clark 7-0, and Rogers outlasted Mead 6-2.
U-Hi’s three runs came in the third inning when Andy Potter threw three straight passed balls with the bases loaded.
Despite the wild third inning, Potter finished with nine strikeouts to win his first start of the season.
At Central Valley, Jeremy Johnson’s two-run double in the first inning proved to be the difference in North Central’s 4-2 win.
Winning pitcher Eric Panza pitched a complete game, striking out nine, walking two and holding CV (2-3) to four hits. The Indians are 1-3.
Garrett Wideman’s three-run double in the fifth inning helped Shadle Park (4-1) earn a win over visiting Lewis and Clark (0-4).
The game was scoreless until the Highlanders broke loose with five runs in the fifth inning and another two in the sixth.
Rob DeBeaumont pitched a complete game for the Highlanders, striking out six, walking three and allowing only four hits.
Errors plagued the Tigers as pitchers Joe Ferris and Cary Snow held the Highlanders to five hits.
Despite committing four errors, Rogers (4-0) held on to beat visiting Mead (1-4) 6-2.
All of the runs were scored in the first two innings.
Adrian Olson had a two-run single with the bases loaded as the Pirates exploded for five runs in the first inning.
Winning pitcher Erick Pearson (3-0) threw a complete game.
WSU football
The Washington State football team will play its annual Crimson and White spring football game Saturday in front of a Moms’ Weekend crowd in Pullman’s Martin Stadium.
Mike Levenseller will coach the Crimson squad and Jim Zeches will coach the White squad. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
Following the scrimmage, fans are invited to join the team on the field for autographs and photos.
Spring drills, which began on March 9, will conclude Thursday.
