Kevin Haley Named To ‘95 American Farrier’s Team

Kevin Haley, Genesee, Idaho, has been named to the 1995 American Farrier’s Team to represent the United States at international farrier competitions. The four-man team is chosen based on individual point standings from the American Farrier Association’s forging and shoeing contests held during the convention that took place in March in Portland. Haley had the second highest American score from the two-day competition.

The team will compete later this summer at several international farrier’s competitions in Stoneleigh, England; Closeburn, Scotland; and Alberta, Canada. He is a certified journeyman farrier and has been shoeing horses since 1975.

Goodwill Industries recently held their Annual Awards Banquet and chose Tim Taylor as Employee of the Year of the Inland Northwest. He is a clerk/cashier in the downtown store, and has been in various training programs from 1987 until mid-1994 when he began as a sales clerk.

Others receving awards were the Moses Lake store, which was named store of the year; Judy Brown, of the Lewiston production facility, was given the Floyd Bowers Memorial Award for Outstanding Performance; and Troy Dixon, employment specialist in Spokane, won the Andre-Romberg Award of Excellence.

Marriott Corporation, Lewis-Clark State College, Lewiston, won the employer of the year award. Don Whittaker accepted the business contributor award on behalf of Rosauers. Bert & Maryly Mills and Ron Childs were recipients of the volunteer of the year awards. Al Bell received the Empire Floral Graduate of the Year award and Dan Ruddell, board chairman for 1994, was named outstanding board member of the year.

James Alford, manager of the McDonald’s restaurant on North Division, graduated with honors from McDonald’s Corporation’s Hamburger University, with a Bachelor of Hamburgerology degree and an appointment to the university’s dean’s list.

Captain Tobia Brewer, a 1988 graduate of Gonzaga University, recently assumed command of the 513th Transportation Company stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Brewer, Spokane.

Kristan Strand, formerly of Spokane, won the Crystal Scissors Award for best student specialty design in the Art Institute of Seattle Fashion Show held recently at the Seattle International Trade Center. She is a fashion design student at the art institute.
