Three Will Vie For Padden’s Seat

From Staff Reports

Spokane County Republicans narrowed to three Friday their list of nominees to replace Mike Padden in the state House of Representatives.

Lynn Schindler, Mark Sterk and Bob Blum were the top vote-getters at a meeting held by the 4th District Republican Action Club.

Party leaders will submit the names of the nominees to County Commissioners Monday.

Commissioners are expected to interview the trio Monday and name Padden’s successor at their meeting Tuesday night.

The person who is chosen will serve out the remainder of Padden’s term

Padden, who served in the House for 17 years, gave up his seat last month to become a Spokane County District Court judge.

Commissioners appointed him to serve out the term of Raymond Tanksley Jr., who died earlier this year.
