Knife-Wielding Man Arrested
A Spokane man was arrested last week after neighbors saw him chasing another man down the street with a large kitchen knife.
Kelly L. Jones, 35, 10116 N. Whittier, was booked into the county jail for second-degree assault.
Woman robbed
A 34-year-old woman told deputies she was robbed by a man in the 300 block of West Francis last week.
The victim said she was walking in an alley when the robber approached her, grabbed a wallet out of her hand and ran.
The man was described as white, about 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall with blond, shoulder-length hair. He wore a green T-shirt, dirty blue jeans and tennis shoes.
Robbery victim forced to undress
A woman who accepted a ride from a man was forced to undress before escaping near Riverside State Park’s entrance early Sunday, authorities said.
The 41-year-old woman told sheriff’s deputies that she was walking downtown and accepted a ride from a man driving a small, red two-door car about 4 a.m.
He drove her to the area of Aubrey L. White Parkway and Government Way and forced her to undress, before she fled the car and ran into a wooded area, the sheriff’s department said.
A husband and wife driving through the area saw the victim and stopped to help the woman, who was cold and speaking incoherently. They gave her a blanket.
The man was described as a heavy-set black man, about 5-foot-9, with his hair shaved on the sides and a tuft of hair sticking up on top. He wore a red and white jacket and his first name might be “Carl,” the sheriff’s department said.
Methamphetamine arrest
A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine Monday after a deputy responded to a call of a pickup parked suspiciously at a nursing home.
John M. Gonzales, 26, 1608 E. Rockwell, was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, the sheriff’s department said.
Sheriff’s Deputy Erick T. Nelson responded to the call at a nursing home in the area of Mayberry and Hawthorne and contacted Gonzales, whose license was suspended.
Gonzales was placed in the back seat of the sheriff’s patrol unit. Then, the deputy searched him and the pickup and found the substance, which later was determined to be methamphetamine, the sheriff’s department said.
