Waltz Muscles Post Falls To Victory

Ian Waltz bested 60 feet in the shot put (60-2) and also won the discus at 172-10, helping Post Falls to a track and field victory Thursday over host Lakeland and Sandpoint.

The Trojans racked up 78 points. Lakeland finished second with 62 and Sandpoint third with 46.

Mike McLean won the 200 meters (23.75 seconds) for Post Falls.

In girls action, Shannon Olson won in the 1,600 (6:07.61) and 3,200 (12:48) as Post Falls cruised to a win over Sandpoint and Lakeland.

Olson also placed second in the 300 hurdles (52.4) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (19.06), as she accounted for 14 of the Trojans’ 81 points.

In addition to Olson’s efforts, Post Falls received wins from Shannon Serverson in the triple jump (32-6 1/2) and long jump (15-2).

The Bulldogs finished second with 57 points, and the Hawks were third with 37.

Boys soccer

Rob Strobel and Kevin Johnson combined for nine saves as Moscow defeated visiting West Valley 3-1.

The Eagles outshot the Bears 18-14, but failed to find the back of the net except for Quinn Sharpe’s goal 24 minutes into the game.

Scott Strobel, Chris Tully-Doyle and Francisco Rossi all scored for Moscow.

Golf
