Ccs Rolls To Victory Over Wenatchee; Whitworth Splits Pair With Pacific

Community Colleges of Spokane scored four runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth Friday on the way to a 14-9 baseball win over Wenatchee at Spokane Falls.

The Sasquatch improved to 7-1 in the NWAACC Eastern Region and 9-4 overall.

CCS left fielder Pat Fischer turned in a 2-for-4, three-RBI performance that included a tworun home run to lead a 16-hit attack.

Sasquatch starting pitcher James Kwong (2-1) went seven innings, surrendering four runs, in picking up the win.

Three Whitworth pitchers combined to scatter six hits as the Pirates topped Pacific 7-4 in the opening game of an NCIC doubleheader in Forest Grove, Ore.

Pacific rebounded to win the nine-inning second game, 10-8.

Don O’Neal hit his third and fourth homers for the season and was 4-for-9 with three RBIs in the two games.

Jason McDougal (1-1) came on in the sixth inning of the first game to pick up the win and Billy Wark worked the seventh for the save.

Grant Good hit his first home run in the second game for Whitworth.

Softball

The Community Colleges of Spokane doubled up Edmonds, winning 1-0 in 10 innings and 8-0 in six, to hand the Tritons (8-2, 9-2) their only NWAACC losses.

Tonya Palmer scored the winning run in the top of the 10th inning on a sinking line drive that was dropped by the Edmonds left fielder.

Deanna Fountain (3-2) set the Tritons down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to complete a twohitter and best University High graduate Tammy Bradstreet (9-1).

Julie Fountain pitched her first one-hitter of the season to pick up the win in the second game.

Carrie Morris hit a two-run home run over the left-field fence in the second inning and Julie Parry added a two-run single in the fourth for the Sasquatch (4-0, 5-5).
