Players Called Out

Compiled From Wire Services

Wilmington College canceled the rest of its baseball season because most of its players broke rules set by the Quakeraffiliated school.

The college said 11 of the team’s 17 players committed unspecified violations. Its remaining games were canceled because the team could not play with just six players.

“At Wilmington, athletics are part of the education process,” athletic director Dick Scott said. “It’s not just about winning and losing. It’s about teaching student-athletes to be disciplined, play hard, be responsible and to use good judgment.”
