Magnolia Hi-Fi Quits Selling Computer Gear

From Staff And Wire Reports

Magnolia Hi-Fi has ceased sales of all computer equipment.

The decision, which went into effect Saturday, ended the sale of computers, printers and computer telecommunications in each of Magnolia’s 10 stores in Washington and Oregon, including the Spokane store at 8016 N. Division.

Rob Waples, manager of Magnolia in Spokane, said computer sales in Oregon and the Puget Sound area were extremely competitive, forcing the Seattlebased chain to leave the market.

Now, Magnolia will concentrate on audio/video equipment and mobile electronics.

Although computer sales in Spokane were “phenomenal” since the store opened in November, the franchise had to comply with the corporate decision, Waples said.

Magnolia liquidated its computer stock, but Waples emphasized that customers may continue to bring computers to the Spokane store for servicing.
