Man Sentenced For Carrying Child Pornography Photos

A Spokane County Superior Court judge sentenced a repeat child molester to a year in jail Wednesday for carrying pornographic photographs of children in his wallet.

Charles Smith, 24, pleaded guilty to the charge and received credit for the two months he’s already served in jail. Judge Michael Donohue said Smith will be under community supervision for another year after his release.

Smith was arrested in February for shoplifting at a north Spokane Tidyman’s store. While being held in the store’s security office, he tossed his billfold into a garbage can. After he left, security guards looked through the wallet and found the five pictures of children ranging from 5 to 11 years in age.

Police believe Smith got the pictures from a European child pornography magazine.
