Valley Princesses

FOR THE RECORD:(April 21, 1995): Central Valley High School Lilac Princess Marcy Latta’s name was spelled wrong in a story in Thursday’s newspaper.

CORRECTION: (Valley Voice, April 22, 1995): Central Valley High School Lilac Princess Marcy Latta and East Valley High School Lilac Princess Emily Mattoon were misidentified in the photo caption on the cover of Thursday’s Valley Voice.

East Valley High School senior Emily Mattoon hopes to become a teacher like her dad. Central Valley High School senior Marcy Latta looks back to her family roots - her great-grandfather Jay Hoover was Spokane’s fifth mayor - for inspiration as a Lilac Princess.

University High School senior Sara Bunnell plans to attend Brigham Young University - where her three older sisters went.

West Valley High School senior Michelle Weinman wants to follow in her father’s foot steps toward a high-powered career.

These four young women take inspiration from their families as they set out in life. This Saturday one of the four Spokane Valley Lilac Princesses - or one of the eight princesses representing other Spokane area high schools - will be crowned the 1995 Lilac Festival Queen.
