Double-Thicke Roles Planned For ‘Hope’
Talk about laying it on Thicke.
Alan Thicke, who plays obnoxious talk-show host Dennis Dupree on “Hope & Gloria,” will be reunited with his former “Growing Pains” cast on the May 4 episode of the new hit NBC sitcom.
The catch: He’ll play Dupree as well as himself as the star of “Growing Pains.”
After learning from Hope (Cynthia Stevenson) that Dennis blames “Growing Pains”’ Thicke for ruining his career, - you don’t want to know - the station’s new programming executive orders Hope to surprise Dennis with a “Growing Pains” reunion on his show.
Joanna Kerns, Kirk Cameron and Jeremy Miller guest-star.
10,000th ‘World Turns’
CBS daytime drama “As the World Turns” will tape its 10,000th episode today.
The series is now in its 40th season, having premiered April 2, 1956.
Helen Wagner, who plays Nancy McClosky, is the only current cast member who has been on the show since it started.
‘Don Kirshner Rock’ on VH1
VH1 is jumping on the ‘70s retro bandwagon. This weekend, the cable music channel is resurrecting the old late-night-TV music series “Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert” with a couple of marathon airings. Next week the show joins the channel’s weeknight schedule.
VH1 will air 10 episodes of the show, featuring such acts as The Eagles, The Rolling Stones and Linda Ronstadt.
