Intalco Fires Head Of Teamsters Local
The union head for 850 hourly Intalco Aluminum Corp. workers has been fired by the company, a union official says.
Intalco claims Ben Wynne twice bought auto parts, totaling about $130, that were charged to the company but were for personal use, said Chuck Eggert, business representative for Teamsters Local 231.
Eggert said Wynne was fired Tuesday but will remain business manager of the Bellingham Metal Trades Council.
The Teamsters local in Bellingham is the parent union for the Metal Trades Council.
“He was discharged for dishonesty, and of course he’s got the right to use the grievance and arbitration process, and of course you’re always innocent until proven guilty,” Eggert said.
Both Wynne and Intalco officials declined comment.
