Teens Disrupt Jewish Funeral

Compiled From Wire Services

Three teenagers stood behind a rabbi and mocked him during a burial for a 99-year-old Jewish man, then left the cemetery shouting, “Heil Hitler!”

The boys, ages 13 and 14, were arrested nearby on suspicion of trespassing and disturbing the peace.

Witnesses among the 50 to 60 people at the funeral said the boys made exaggerated weeping gestures, spit tobacco juice on the grass, goose-stepped across the lawn and left with a raised-arm Nazi salute.

“Some people do it deliberately because they know what it means,” said Rabbi Stanley Rosenbaum, who led the service. “Other people do it because it gets attention and they don’t understand the pain and misery it causes.”
