Government Almanac For The Week Of April 23

Spokane City Council Monday, 5:30 p.m. briefing, fifth-floor conference room; 6 p.m. special meeting

7 p.m. regular meeting City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

The council will hold a special meeting with the County Commissioners to discuss the Special Gang Prosecution Team. Also Monday, the council will set a hearing date for the downtown parking and business improvement area and consider a temporary moratorium on multi-family development in the Cannon Hill Addition.

Spokane County Commissioners Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. briefing, county courthouse, 1116 W. Broadway 5 p.m. regular meeting, public works building hearing room, 1026 W. Broadway.

Among other business, commissioners will hear comments about the proposed 101-house Turtle Creek subdivision in Greenacres. Also, they will consider spending $42,091 on landscaping at Pavilion Park near Liberty Lake and $95,178 on improvements at Holmberg, Valleyford and Brown’s parks.

Spokane County Freeholders Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. Spokane County Health District budilding, 1101 W. College.

Freeholders who believe the group’s proposed charter should be presented to voters in three tiers will meet to discuss their proposal.

Freeholders expect to hear a report from attorneys who have been reviewing the group’s proposed charter. The document, which must be approved by voters, would consolidate Spokane city and county government.
