Howard University Names Swygert President

H. Patrick Swygert, president of the University at Albany of the State University of New York, was named president of Howard University on Saturday.

The selection of Swygert, 52, as the predominantly black university’s 15th president was announced by Wayman Smith III, chairman of Howard’s board of trustees.
