Hurricanes Under Fire

In the wake of reports that former football star Warren Sapp flunked multiple drug tests in college, the University of Miami began an investigation to determine if it might have improperly enforced its drug policy and violated NCAA rules.

“The information we have now does not indicate there was any NCAA rule violation,” Miami athletic director Paul Dee said. “But we will go back through all the information we have.”

Dee said Miami will inform the NCAA shortly of its latest investigation - at least the fourth at the school since 1991.

Alabama officials said they will have to respond in person to the NCAA about violations in its football program, another sign the school may be facing stiffer penalties than anticipated.
