Local Government Topic Of Town Hall Meeting

FOR THE RECORD: (April 26, 1995): Spokane County Comissioner Phil Harris will participate in a town hall meeting tonight at West Valley High School. Harris’ name was wrong in a Tuesday story.

The Spokesman-Review will host a town hall meeting to discuss the role of local government from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at West Valley High School, 8301 E. Buckeye.

People are invited to share their ideas on the services they expect local government to deliver and the methods and attitudes that ought to be part of the local-government process.

County Commissioner Phil Harris and Freeholder Judi Williams have agreed to participate in the community discussion, which will be moderated by Doug Floyd, an interactive editor for The Spokesman-Review.

“Although we are holding this forum at a time when Spokane County is considering several revisions in the structure of local government, the purpose is not to debate those options,” Floyd said. “Instead, we hope to identify what people expect of their local government, whichever revision becomes a reality.”
