Big Sky Chooses Home
Big Sky Conference presidents have chosen to move the conference headquarters to Ogden, Utah, Weber State president Paul Thompson said.
Ogden was selected over Coeur d’Alene and Spokane during a conference call of the presidents.
“One major factor had to do with the (Salt Lake) airport and transportation,” Thompson said. “It’s a hub airport and there are non-stop flights to every school in the conference except (Northern Arizona in) Flagstaff.”
Conference offices have been in Boise, but a change became necessary when Boise State decided to leave the Big Sky for the Big West Conference, effective in 1996.
Thompson said Coeur d’Alene and Spokane received positive remarks from the presidents.
Soon-to-be commissioner Doug Fullerton, currently A.D. at Montana State, now knows where he’ll be relocating. Thompson said the selection of Ogden should expedite Fullerton’s ability to complete his staff.
