Gambling City Lures Wac

The Western Athletic Conference will be lured with a $6 million bid from this gambling city to host its annual football and men’s basketball championships.

Tourism officials plan to offer the money for a three-year contract offer that coincides with UNLV’s entrance into the WAC the same year.

The bid guarantees the conference $1 million a year for hosting each event, over and above expenses for operation and administration.

UNLV is one of six teams that will join the current 10-team conference in 1996.
