Nomo Loses Professional Debut
Former Japan League pitching star Hideo Nomo made his U.S. debut Thursday night, allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings in a losing start for Bakersfield of the Class A California League.
Nomo, a 26-year-old right-hander, signed a minor league contract with Los Angeles in February and is expected to start for the Dodgers next Tuesday night when they face the San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park.
