Softball
The Community Colleges of Spokane suffered its first NWAACC Eastern Region defeat, 3-2 to Edmonds Community College, before bouncing back in the nightcap 6-3 at Lynnwood.
The Sasquatch pounded out 13 hits, including three each by Carrie Morris and Dani Fine, to run their record to 15-1 in NWAACC play and 16-6 overall.
Morris finished 3 for 4, including a triple, and stole three bases, while Fine went 3 for 3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.
Julie Fountain (8-3) scattered eight hits to limit the Tritons to three runs and went the distance.
In the first game, Edmonds ripped four fifth-inning singles, but managed to score only one run when Mandy Paul’s single scored Kristi Kaldestad. The run proved decisive as the Tritons (13-3, 17-3) held off a seventh-inning Sasquatch rally that saw CCS leave runners on second and third to end the game.
Juline Parry turned in a 2-for-3 performance and Misty West went 2 for 4 with a run batted in to lead the Sasquatch.
