Left-Off Library Levy Means Higher Taxes
Property taxes for Airway Heights’ 3,000 residents will go up an average of $25 this year because a library levy was left off this year’s assessment.
The levy was inadvertently omitted when the town submitted its 1995 request to the county assessor’s office.
The higher tax will raise about $34,000 to continue operating a county branch library, said Airway Heights City Administrator Mike Patterson.
Homeowners must pay 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, or $25 for a $50,000 house - the average in Airway Heights.
