Egghead Planning Store At Lincoln Rd., Division

Egghead Software will open its first Spokane retail store next month at the corner of Lincoln Road and Division.

Ron Smith, Egghead vice president of real estate, said the company researched the Spokane market using census information and particularly likes the demographics of the North Side.

In July, Egghead announced plans to move its corporate offices to Spokane from Issaquah, Wash.

Smith said the company would have opened a retail store in the area even without the move.

“We are just tickled to be opening a retail store in Spokane,” said Smith.

The store, at the southeast corner of Lincoln Road and Division, was formerly occupied by Premier Video.

Egghead has signed a five-year lease for the 4,000-square-foot site, Smith said.

The store, larger than most of the 130 stores Egghead operates in 30 states, will carry about 3,000 software titles and a selection of computers.

Smith said Egghead is planning at least one more Spokane store, perhaps in the Spokane Valley.
