Jim Munro has joined Nelson Securities, Inc., as vice president of operations. He is a certified financial planner with 14 years experience in the local financial services industry.
Karen Maruyama has joined Washington Trust Bank’s Commercial Lending Division as vice president, business banking officer IV. Maruyama has more than 16 years of experience in finance and banking.
Midge Collins has been named assistant curator of the Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University. The museum, which is nearing completion, will open in late October and will house the university’s art collection and gallery exhibits. Collins will help prepare exhibits and preserve and catalog Gonzaga’s art collection.

Chris Mansfield joined the consulting group as a project engineer. He graduated from Washington State University in 1984 and has more than 10 years of experience specializing in roadways, heavy construction and construction management.
Glenn Gredvig has joined the Spokane office as an autoCAD operator. Gredvig is a 19-year veteran in civil engineering, drafting and surveying.
Scott Valentine was hired as the group’s full-time land survey manager. Valentine was hired as as part-time consultant in 1994 and is professionally certified in Washington, Idaho and Montana.
John Huesner M.D. has joined Physician Anesthesia Group, PS in the practice of anesthesiology. Huesner graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1988 and completed his internship at Tucson Hospitals and a residency at the University of Utah.
Harry Bray M.D. has joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of gastroenterology. Bray graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1984 and completed his internship at Varagwanath Hospital and his residency St. Vincent Hospital.
George Stachecki M.D. has joined Diakonai Family Health in the practice of family medicine. Stachecki graduated from the University of Washington and completed his internship and residency at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Kelly Etzel has joined the Spokane Convention and Visitors Bureau as director of membership. Etzel worked for six years as the administrative assistant for the computer department at Farm Credit Bank, was the assistant to Mayor Shari Barnard, and most recently was employed as the administrative assistant to the executive director of SIRTI.
Nancy Manly has joined Gerald Boyd & Associates, Realtors as an associate broker. Manly, who has 14 years of residential real estate experience, recently moved to Spokane from Alaska.
Ben Newman has joined a private practice in Spokane in association with Mary Miller PhD., as an advanced practice registered nurse. Newman recently moved to Chewelah from Salem, Ore., where he was the clinical director for an outpatient mental health and alcohol and drug treatment center.

Marji Thompson has joined Trinity Universal Insurance Companies as a person lines underwriter, handling the state of Idaho. Thompson formerly worked for SAFECO Insurance and is a graduate of Eastern Washington University and received a masters degree from Gonzaga University.

Elected:
Gerald Leahy, president and CEO of Sacred Heart Medical Center, has been chosen to serve a three-year term as secretary/treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA).
Dennis Halsey, vice president of Trinity Universal Insurance Companies Northwest Region, was re-elected as the chairman of The Idaho Guaranty Fund.
Judge Sam Cozza was elected to a three-year term as a member of the Board of Governors of the Washington District and Municipal Court Judges Association. The board supervises educational programs and makes policies for the state’s 280 district and municipal court judges and contributes assistance in fashioning legislation and court rules.
Dr. William Wiley, senior vice president for science and technology policy for Battelle Memorial Institute, has been elected to the National Board of the Smithsonian Institution.
Spokane councilmember Bev Numbers was recently elected vicepresident of the Association of Washington Cities. Davenport Mayor Carr Killin was elected to the board of directors representing District #1. Reelected to the Board of Directors representing District #2 was councilmember Richard Dougherty of Pullman, and representing District #3 Mayor Rod B. Hartman of Coulee Dam.
Moving Up:
Floyd Mossburgh has joined Jacklin Seed Company as its new domestic traffic manager. Mossburgh has 17 years of experience at Jacklin Seed, and is now in charge of Jacklin’s seed shipments within the United States.
Washington Trust Bank recently announced that: Mark Perko, commercial loan account executive and Lori Horner, supervisor of corporate lending, have both been promoted to assistant cashier.
Thomas Wendt has been named executive director for the Grant County Economic Development Council. Wendt had been serving as interim executive director for three months and had worked with the Grant County PUD for 29 years and retired in 1992. He has operated a consulting firm since his retirement.
Greg Hotchkiss has been named vice president in Spokane for U.S. Bancorp Securities. Hotchkiss currently serves as an investment representative at U.S. Bancorp Securities Eastern Washington Investment Center. He joined U.S. Bancorp Securities since 1986.
Robert Gunning was recently promoted to vice president/branch manager of the Coeur d’Alene office of Smith Barney Inc. Gunning was previously the sales manager of the McClean, Va., office.
Rick Crow was promoted to associate broker for Crowley Realty Better Homes and Gardens and has been named listing agent of the year for Crowley Realty BH&G. Crow has been in the real estate industry for four years.

Michael Mathis has joined Tomlinson Black Management Inc., as vice president of special projects and corporate development. Mathis has been involved in real estate since the early 1970s and formerly served as executive vice president at R.W. Robideaux & Co., and served with Metropolitan Mortgage & Securities in leasing and sales. He has been recognized six times with production awards by the Spokane Association of Realtors.
KHQ Television recently announced these changes in news and sales staff:
Denise Dowling has been hired as executive producer for news at KHQ Television. Dowling, a two-time Emmy winner, comes to Q6 from KXLY TV. She had previously worked for Q6 from 1984 until 1991.
Sean Owsley has been promoted to 6 p.m. news producer. Owsley had been working as a Q6 news photographer/ associate producer.
Mark Peterson has been named Q6 weekday morning news weatherperson. Peterson will remain as co-anchor for the Q6 Saturday morning newscast. He has been with Q6 for a year and a half.
Carrie Gustafson has joined the Q6 sales and marketing staff as an account executive. Gustafson worked at KIRO TV in Seattle and at KREM TV before moving to Q6.
Jim Strathdee was recently named general manager for Calkins Manufacturing Co. Strathdee has a degree in business administration.
Kudos:
Resource Computing Ind. will celebrate five years of business in the Inland Northwest with a party at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at its Coeur d’Alene headquarters. The company has grown from a one-person computer assembly business to the premium supplier of name brand computers, local area networks, sales automation and pointof-sales systems in North Idaho. Owner Patrick Whalen started the business in July 1991, putting together “clone” computers on his living room floor, and now employs 14 people.
