Comment On Hanging Narrows Jury Pool

Compiled From Wire Services

Questioning of potential jurors in the trial of the ex-convict accused of strangling Polly Klaas began Monday with the dismissal of a man who wrote in his questionnaire that Richard Allen Davis “ought to be hung.”

Twelve-year-old Polly was kidnapped at knifepoint from her bedroom during a slumber party in 1993. The case spurred “three strikes” laws around the country. Davis, 41, could get the death penalty.
