Bomb In Tourist Area Hurts 17 In Paris

Compiled From Wire Services

Three weeks after a train bombing fueled fears of a new round of terrorism, 17 people were injured Thursday when another explosive device, concealed in a trash can, went off in a Paris neighborhood highly popular with tourists.

Similarities between the design of this bomb - set near the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees - and the July 25 subway blast that killed seven people prompted speculation that the Algerian terrorists believed responsible for the first attack had struck again.
