Man Faces Charges After Stolen Computers Found
A Spokane man was charged with four counts of first-degree trafficking in stolen property on Thursday after deputies recovered $70,000 worth of stolen computer equipment earlier this week.
Sidney Randall is accused of selling computers stolen from offices at Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood. He is being held on a $50,000 bond in the Spokane County Jail.
Deputies said Randall was selling the computers for a person who had access to them at the aluminum plant.
Randall, who gave his address as 1815 S. Grand, was arrested two months ago for a related incident. The 34-year-old faces a total of five counts of trafficking in stolen property and a third-degree assault charge.
Deputies recovered seven laptop computers from as far away as Olympia. All were reported stolen from Kaiser-Trentwood.
The first count of trafficking in stolen property and the assault charge were levied against Randall on June 19 after he tried to sell a stolen laptop computer to BST Computers on East Sprague, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. David Wiyrick.
The owner of BST Computers recognized the computer as one reported stolen from Kaiser-Trentwood and called deputies, Wiyrick said.
Randall tried to flee the store with the computer, deputies said. Randall is charged with biting the store owner on the arm during the struggle that ensued.
