No Excuses For Being Bored
Looking for something to do this weekend? Our Generation writers Dmitri Arbacauskas from Central Valley and Shaunna Keasler from Springdale offer these suggestions:
Saturday is the day the tops of the mountains around Springdale will be blown clear to the sky. Five bands will make up the concert called Inland Jam, from 3-7 p.m.
Shrinking Violets, Nadir, Swelter, Kept and One Ton will share the stage. Tickets are $5 and are available by calling 258-4270. To get there, follow U.S. Highway 395 north, turn left at Loon Lake and follow the signs.
The concert is a fund-raiser for the Stevens County Arts Commission. It’s an alcohol- and drug-free event. (S.K.)
What can I say? I laughed. I cried. I fell down.
This is the kind of reaction people have from being introduced to a strange form of narcotic known as HIJINX. This odd drug has been around since 1990. As of yet, the police haven’t commented on even the existence of a chemical this mind-bogglingly addictive, yet we have proof it exists.
Every Friday night people flock to the ACT Theater at 425 N. Evergreen to find themselves locked in an almost hallucinatory state of comedy as a group of actors performs the audience’s suggestions. Intoxicating laughter ensues, leaving most users with the desire to experience it again next week.
Now that I’ve caused a couple of impromptu drug-busts in the Valley with my earlier metaphor, here’s what’s up: HIJINX is one of the best things available in Spokane on a Friday night that doesn’t involve intoxicating substances - other than great acting and comedy.
Shows are at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. (D.A.)
