Ed Board Director Takes Chancellor Job
Elson Floyd, executive director of the state Higher Education Coordinating Board, is resigning to become a vice chancellor at the University of North Carolina.
Floyd, 39, will return to UNC in Chapel Hill where he earned a doctorate and two other degrees. He also spent 13 years as an administrator for the university and its 16-campus system.
From 1992 to 1993 he was executive vice president at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
He has been director of the state board, which helps plan and coordinate state college and university programs, for two years.
