Frisbee Recovery Ends In Back Surgery
A University of Idaho freshman, the son of the school’s finance vice president, broke his back in a fall from a campus building.
Brian Wallace, 21, fell from a point near a ledge about 25 feet off the ground on the Physical Education Building just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. He climbed the building to retrieve a Frisbee.
“He hit some bushes on his way down, but managed to roll as he hit the ground,” said his father, University of Idaho Vice President Jerry Wallace.
Brian Wallace was taken to Moscow’s Gritman Medical Center and later was transferred to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, where he underwent surgery to repair a crushed vertebrae. A nursing supervisor said Wallace was in fair condition.
