Input Sought On Lake Roosevelt Plan
A plan to restore and protect Lake Roosevelt is on the table, and the public is invited to comment at a series of meetings throughout northeastern Washington.
The plan was prompted by worries over metals and nutrient pollution of the lake, which is the Columbia River reservoir behind Grand Coulee Dam. It calls for putting one authority in charge of lake management, increasing environmental education and continued monitoring of water and fish.
The first meeting will be in Spokane, at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Teachers Credit Union Building, 106 W. Nora.
Other meetings will be held in Grand Coulee, Wilbur, Davenport/ Seven Bays, Colville, Northport and Colville. Times will be announced later. For information, contact Lisa Bucy at the Washington Water Research Center in Pullman, (509) 335-5531. The center staff prepared the management plan for the Lake Roosevelt Water Quality Management Council.
Information also is available from council coordinator Scott Hall in Nespelem, (509) 935-6947.
