Liberty Lake Ladies Win Review Cup

Liberty Lake Ladies 18-Hole Golf Club were winners of this year’s Spokane Area Women’s Golf Association Review Cup championship in a playoff with Manito Country Club.

The two teams earned the playoffs by winning their respective divisions of the season-long competition co-sponsored by S.A.W.G.A. and The Spokesman-Review.

Playing for Liberty Lake in the finals were the two-person teams of Billie Etter and Keri Barham, Jean Hatcher and Alice Shattuck, Gloria Cash and Patsy Lynn.

They swept all three matches over the Manito teams of Diana Newberry and Sandy McLaughlin, Bebe McCowan and Maureen O’Brian, Sue Terpening and Betty Green.

The award is presented at the season-ending S.A.W.G.A. luncheon.

President’s Cup at Painted Hills

Second leg of the Painted Hills Ladies Golf Club President’s Cup was conducted during last week’s medal play.

Net winners are in the running for the award which is determined by the best two out of three rounds.

They were Caroline Geiger and Deanna Tucker in A flight with 32s, Jennifer Radke and Arleen Espe in B flight with 33s, Caryl Marcus in C flight with 29 and Irene Strong in D flight with 32.

Low gross leaders were Danice Deckard at 42 in A, Diane Groh with 47 in B, Leslie Zilka with 51 in C, Patsy Angelo with 59 in D and no-hadicapper Yvonne Eyler with 66.

Five golfers, Pat Casey, Tucker, Nancy Mullenix, Cheryl Winkler and Marcus birdied the fourth hole, the latter chipping in from off the green.

Mullenix chipped in to hole out the third. Clare Herman on five and Pat Schlosstein on one also had chip-ins.
