Clintons Trade Estate For Tent
President and first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, who have lived in posh public housing much of their adult lives, made plans Sunday to spend the night in more humble surroundings: A tent.
The Clintons were leaving their vacation home - an 8,000-square-foot mountain view estate owned by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va. - for a more rustic setting a few miles away on the Rockefeller family’s ranch in the heart of Grand Teton National Park.
White House spokeswoman Ginny Terzano, who called the presidential campsite wooded and remote, said the Clintons planned to sleep in one tent, with their daughter and a friend in another. Aides accompanying the Clintons were sleeping in nearby teepees or cabins.
The president’s 17-day vacation ends Thursday.
