Pharmacists Honored For Professional Contributions

Three Spokane pharmacists were recently commended for “outstanding contributions to the professional development” of Washington State University pharmacy students.

Jennifer Brumblay-Dailey, Sixth Avenue Medical Pharmacy; and Diane White and Mel Nebelsieck, Platters Pharmacy, were recognized by WSU’s College of Pharmacy during graduation ceremonies.

They served as preceptors for the college’s externship program that trains students in community and hospital pharmacy environments during their final school year.

United Security Bank has awarded the following $1,250 scholarships to high school graduates:

Matthew Park, Jenkins High School, Chewelah, Wash., will attend Washington State University to study biology.

Jeffrey Burningham, University High School, will attend Western Washington University to study broadcast communications.

Jennifer Beacham, Selkirk High School, Metaline, Wash., will attend Eastern Washington University to study education.

Karen Flanigan, Colville (Wash.) High School, will attend Spokane Falls Community College for paralegal studies.

The National Association of Purchasing Management-Spokane has announced new officers for the 1995-96 term:

Dave Raymond, director of national affairs; Ken Gawloski, president; Denise Davies, first vice president; Gary Greenleaf, second vice president; Janet Prendergast, secretary; Wendy Driggs, treasurer; Anne Warrington, international committee; Kim Crumpacker, membership committee; Kaye Latham, professional development; Laurie Hitchcock, public relations; Julie Robinson, Ed Milota, Charlie Gutierrez, Francine Lyngstad and Jock Pring, trustees.

Elise Mordic, a senior at North Central High School, was elected Governor at Evergreen Girls State at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Minda Dentler, Mead, was elected State Insurance Commissioner; Emily Meyer, Ferris, was elected Supreme Court Judge; and Amber Sine, East Valley, was elected City Manager.

The program is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty Cramer was elected president at the American Legion Auxiliary Department Convention in Wenatchee. She is a 40-year member of Spokane Unit No. 9.

Meagan Marie Elliott-Marsh, a 1995 graduate of West Valley High School, participated in the Miss Teen Washington pageant. She was second runner-up and won a trophy and $400. She plans to study medicine at Washington State University in the fall. She is the daughter of Bob and Shirley Marsh and Lane and Stacy Elliott.

Rebecca Wendling, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lyle Wendling, Spokane, has been named a College Scholar, the highest recognition for academic achievement, for the spring term at Middlebury College, Vt.
