Dance Center Hires New Teachers
The Dance Center, a Valley dance school, will soon welcome a literal couple of new instructors - Bill and Wendy Robertson.
Their varied resumes include everything from working with thespians in musical theater to comedians on variety shows. Studio owner Kathy McCullough said she will use the Robertsons’ show talents to offer new classes in musical theater, something her business has yet to explore.
Both teachers also specialize in teaching tap, jazz and ballet styles.
Bill Robertson will begin teaching classes at the dance studio, located at 621 S. Pines Road, on Sept. 5. Wendy Robertson will begin teaching there at a later date this year.
Bill Robertson recently completed a two-year teaching assignment with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. He has also been featured in several stage and TV shows, from “Guys and Dolls” to SCTV.
“He’s someone of really rather impressive credentials,” McCullough said.
Wendy Robertson has done choreography work with such well-known performers as Leslie Nielsen, Jerry Van Dyke and John Travolta - the former two as part of comedy routines.
McCollum expands
McCollum Ford Ranch, 8300 E. Sprague, has expanded the used car side of its operations.
The business recently opened a used car subsidiary called McCollum Clearance Corral at 4229 E. Sprague.
That 30,000-square-foot lot was previously the home to Northwest RV.
Manager Dan Conner said the new site will be home to most of McCollum’s used vehicles.
Nonetheless, the Ford dealership arm will still have a supply of recent model used vehicles, Conner said.
Yogurt Garden returns
People working in Sullivan Square shops won’t have to wait any longer. One of their old snack-time hangouts is back.
Yogurt Garden, 15412 E. Sprague, has opened its doors again after nine months of downtime.
The business closed last November. New owner Fay Valentine re-opened the business last week.
A weighty venture
A company offering rentals, sales and service of scales recently opened at 7406 E. Sprague.
Industrial Scale offers weighing equipment ranging in application from truck payload scales to highly precise scales for use in manufacturing.
Owner Tom Perry said while he has worked in the industry for 12 years, this is the first venture he has started and owned himself.
Perry said his company has accounts both here and in other parts of the state.
