Indian Trail Zoning Plan Will Go To City Council

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane City Council will hear testimony Sept. 11 on a comprehensive zoning plan for the Indian Trail neighborhood.

The plan, approved by the city Plan Commission on Wednesday, calls for a road to ease traffic jams on Indian Trail Road and Francis Avenue. The plan also limits development in the area, allowing 3,320 new homes.

If the plan is approved, the city cannot approve new zoning in Indian Trail until money is found for the bypass road, which would connect Nine Mile Road with Strong Road.

The earliest that could happen would be next summer, according to Charlie Dotson, city planning director. “And that would be a miracle,” he said.

A City Council work session on the plan, which has been four years in the making, is scheduled for Sept. 7.
