Police Responding To Fight Attacked
Three people were arrested early Saturday in north Spokane after assaulting police who responded to a fight that allegedly involved more than a dozen people.
Police arrived about 2:30 a.m. to the East 700 block of Fort Henry Court. The crowd was gone, and a woman at 723 E. Fort Henry said there was no problem and shut the door, police said.
Police said they saw several young people in a car outside the house, and one had a knife.
Police asked the four people to leave the car, and two attacked officers. They were being arrested when another person ran from the house and hit an officer from behind.
Melva A. Major, 26, a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, all of 723 E. Fort Henry Court, were arrested. All appeared intoxicated, said police, who took the boy to the hospital because of his blood-alcohol level.
The three were booked for third- and fourth-degree assault, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. The juveniles were taken to juvenile detention.
At least one officer suffered cuts and scrapes, police said.
