Man Loses Jewelry In Food Drive Mistake

Compiled From Wire Services

Tom Cummins thought he donated a can of Campbell’s noodle soup to a food drive last month. Only recently did he discover that instead of soup the fake can contained jewelry.

Cummins wouldn’t estimate the value of the jewels inside, but he is offering a $2,500 reward.

Cummins said he reported the mistake to police but they said no crime was committed so they couldn’t help.

Caritas, a social service agency, runs the food pantry that received Cummins’ donation. A volunteer supervisor said he overheard someone talking about an empty soup can, but he told Cummins’ he wasn’t sure what was done with it.
