Papandreou Stable, Still On Respirator

Compiled From Wire Services

Premier Andreas Papandreou remained in stable condition on life support for a fourth day Friday, suffering from lung and kidney failure after being hospitalized with pneumonia.

“In the past 24 hours the premier’s condition with regard to his breathing and kidney functions appears stable. He is still supported by a respirator and an artificial kidney,” said Dr. Grigoris Skalkeas, one of 15 doctors treating the 76-year-old premier.

The premier’s heart has not been affected, he added.
