Federal Way Man Shot Answering Door
A late-night knock at the door could hold some clues to the shooting death of a 26-year-old Federal Way man in his duplex.
The man’s live-in girlfriend found his body about 6 a.m. Saturday when she returned home from an overnight shift at work, King County police spokesman Jerrell Wills said.
Wills gave the following account:
The man and his girlfriend’s three children - one boy and two girls ranging in age from 9 to 13 - were in the duplex when they heard a knock at the door around midnight.
The man went to answer the door while the children remained upstairs.
The children later told police they heard a loud noise but didn’t go downstairs to investigate.
“The children didn’t see or hear anything other than the loud noise,” Wills said.
When the girlfriend returned home from work, she found her boyfriend dead in an area near the living room.
The victim apparently had been shot once, Wills said.
No weapon was recovered, and no one has been arrested in the case.
