Obituaries

Duane Abrahamson Wellpinit, Wash.

Service for for Duane Alfred Abrahamson, 44, is set for 10 a.m. today at Spokane Tribal Longhouse, Wellpinit. Burial will follow at Hubert Cemetery in Ford, Wash. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Abrahamson died Thursday in an industrial accident.

He was born in DeSmet, Idaho.

He graduated from high school in Wellpinit. He served in the Army from 1972 until 1975.

He worked for Vaagen Brothers Lumber Co., as a millwright for the past eight years.

He was a member of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Abrahamson; one son, John Abrahamson and one daughter, Glenna Abrahamson, both of Wellpinit; his mother, Lorraine Abrahamson of Spokane; three sisters, Loreena LaFontaine and Charlene Abrahamson, both of Ford, and Brenda Abrahamson both of Seattle.

Arthur Fisher Coeur d’Alene

At his request, no service will be held for Arthur R. Fisher, 78. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fisher, who was born in Wallace, died Friday.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in the 1930s and served with the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Fisher worked for various logging companies in North Idaho. He retired in 1990 due to health reasons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Michael Fisher of Rathdrum, Robert Knapp of Post Falls, and Kenneth Knapp of Greenacres, Wash.; two daughters, Dianna Hull of Coeur d’Alene, and Margie Kitchen of Hayden Lake; three brothers, Don and Dick Fisher, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Jim Fisher of Post Falls; four sisters, Gladis and Vivian Wargi, both of Coeur d’Alene, Violet Wagner of Bremerton, Wash., and Fairy Delay of Careywood, Idaho; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James Mitchell Post Falls

Memorial service for James Lee Mitchell, 46, will be today at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mitchell, who was born in Salinas, Calif., died Thursday.

He moved to North Idaho in 1968, and married Vernette Johnson in 1969. They later were divorced.

Mr. Mitchell had worked as an upholsterer and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Laurie Clark of Hayden Lake, and Lynette Parson of Clarkston, Wash.; three sisters, Shirley Bott of Clarkston, Wilma Vermilyer of California, and Carol Mitchell of Spokane; one grandson; and his former wife, of Sprague, Wash.

Memorials may be made to the North Idaho Cancer Center, 700 Ironwood Dr., Coeur d’Alene 83814.

John Hoye Spokane

No service will be held for John A. Hoye, 81, at his request. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Hoye, who was born in Boston, died Wednesday.

He graduated from Boston Latin School and, in 1936, from Harvard College.

He served in the Navy during World War II and survived the German torpedo attack on the USS Buck in the Mediterranean Sea. He also served in the Pacific Theater and survived kamikaze attacks. He was aboard the USS Missouri when Japan formally surrendered, ending World War II.

Mr. Hoye was a partner in Jones and Mitchell Insurance Co. and retired in 1980. He had lived in Spokane since 1948.

He was a member of the Manito Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beulah Hoye; one son, John Hoye Jr. of Cheney; one daughter, Mary Ann Davis of Bellingham; and one granddaughter.
