Pitchers Commit To Gonzaga Baseball

Right-handed pitchers Bryan Hill from Blanchet High in Seattle and Nick Hess of David Douglas High in Portland has signed letters-of-intent and will join the GU baseball program next fall. Hill was second-team All-Metro as a sophomore and has a 12-2 career record at Blanchet. He went 9-2 for the Seattle Baseball Club last summer and was picked to play in the Seattle Mariners 1995 fall program.

Hess went 13-4 as a junior with three saves, 144 strikeouts in 119 innings and a 1.84 earned run average. He also hit .321 with five home runs and 47 RBI.

Openings remain

The Gonzaga University’s Bulldog baseball/softball camp still has openings for the 5 p.m.-8 p.m. session, Dec. 19-21 at the Martin Centre.

The camp is under the direction of coach Steve Hertz, his staff and players. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-18. For more information contact the baseball office at 328-4220, ext. 4226.
