Port Angeles Man Missing On Peninsula

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Port Angeles man has been missing on the Olympic Peninsula, possibly since Thanksgiving, the Clallam County search and rescue coordinator said.

Searchers had planned to take a dog trained to find bodies to the woods near Lake Crescent on Saturday to search for John Krieger, 42, said coordinator Don Kelly.

But the cold, wet weather would have made it difficult for the dog to track, he said. Searchers planned to go to the woods when the weather improved.

Krieger’s car was found at the north end of Lake Crescent last week. His mother, Lavern Krieger, said she had not heard from her son since Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving.

Authorities speculated Krieger may have been hiking or mushroom hunting when he disappeared.

Also over the weekend, a Forks hunter who had been reported missing Friday turned up. There apparently had been some miscommunication with his family about his plans, the sheriff’s office said Sunday.

Additional details were not immediately available.
