Panhandle Forest Gets New Deputy Supervisor
A new deputy supervisor started work at the Idaho Panhandle National Forests this week.
Pat A. Aguilar is transferring from a Forest Service post in Ogden, Utah. He has been with the agency for 20 years and replaces Bill Damon.
Damon left last May to become the forest supervisor at the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in Virginia.
There are three other new administrators coming to the Panhandle Forests. Carl Gidlund is the new public information officer, coming from Boise where he worked on the Upper Columbia River Basin ecosystem study team.
Gidlund replaces Judy Smith, who left the Forest Service in August when her family moved to the Washington coast.
Susan Matthews, a silviculturist on the Panhandle Forests for the last seven years, is the new district ranger for the Fernan-Wallace Ranger districts. She replaces Steve Williams.
Finally, Elaine Zieroth will become the new Bonners Ferry District ranger in January.
Zieroth has been working as a wildlife biologist with the Eastside Ecosystem Management Project in Walla Walla for the past two years.
