New Idaho Rules
Fishing
Although new fishing pamphlets are not yet available, here are some of the new fishing regulations for North Idaho adopted by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission. The changes will go into effect in 1996.
The major change was the closure of bull trout harvesting in Lake Pend Oreille, beginning Jan. 1.
Other changes include:
Alder and Evans creeks will reopen to fishing July 1 with a six trout limit.
The chinook limit for all tributaries to Coeur d’Alene Lake will be two fish.
Gamble Lake is restricted to non-motorized or craft or those powered only by electric motors.
The Gold Creek drainage and all tributary streams are closed.
The rainbow trout harvest on Lake Pend Oreille will open the last Saturday in April instead of May 1 and run through Nov. 30.
The fishing season for Jewel Lake will run from the last Saturday in April to Nov. 30.
Hayden Lake’s trout harvest season will run the last Saturday in April to Nov. 30. There will be no limit on northern pike.
The Kootenai River will be closed to sturgeon fishing.
