River Area Site Of Search For Body Screams Heard, Man Missing, ‘Large Quantity Of Blood’ Found
The Snohomish County sheriff’s office has made an arrest and started a homicide investigation even though no one has found a body.
On Sunday, search and rescue crews looked in and around the Skykomish River for a man detectives believe was killed Saturday.
“We found a large quantity of blood near the river bank, and on the embankment and on the roadway,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen.
But no body.
The investigation began before dawn Saturday.
Jeremy Booker told detectives he heard yelling and screaming coming from an upstairs bedroom in his Snohomish rooming house.
He said he heard a man pleading for his life.
Booker and others ran to a neighbor’s house to use the phone and report the problem.
Witnesses said they saw two men leave the rooming house in a car with the man detectives believe is now dead.
Investigators believe the man was killed and his body dumped into the river.
A 19-year-old man was arrested a few hours later when a sheriff’s deputy spotted him driving a car belonging to the possible homicide victim.
The sheriff’s office was still looking for the second suspect on Sunday - a 16-year-old boy described as armed and dangerous.
The identity of the man believed dead has not been released.
He was in his 20s, Jorgensen said.
